National Poetry Day!!
I know it's two days late, but on Thursday it was National Poetry Day and the theme for 2020 is Vision, with the strap-line 'see it like a poet'.
So, a bit of history about this special day...it was founded quite recently in 1994 by William Sieghart, a British philanthropist, entrepreneur, and publisher who said:
"There are millions of talented poets out there and it's about time they got some recognition for their work. They shouldn't be embarrassed about reading their work out loud. I want people to read poetry on the bus on their way to work, in the street, in school and in the pub"

National poetry day is now celebrated across the UK on the first Thursday of October, with the aim of encouraging everyone to enjoy, discover, and share poetry, revealing the huge impact poetry can have on people's lives.
Over the years, the themes have varied from Identity to Heroes and Heroines, but I particularly like this year's theme of Vision, as, during this period of uncertainty, it is the vision of a return to normal life that has kept us all going, while I also think that all our eyes have been opened to some of the more important aspects of life.
On the National Poetry Day website, there is a link to a selection of beautiful poems written by poets varying from William Shakespeare to Victoria Adukwei Bulley, so do go and take a look: https://nationalpoetryday.co.uk/poems/poems/
I hope you all had a lovely National Poetry Day and I hope to write something again very soon!!
